IALLT’s online publication, the FLTMAG (a free magazine on technology integration in language teaching and learning), calls for submissions for our July issue, which will be our first themed issue, on the topic of COVID-19 and the response of the language teaching and learning community to it.
Unlike previous issues, this issue will be rolled out gradually, so that articles that may be helpful immediately to those who are teaching remotely can be accessed right away, while more reflective or analytical pieces can come out later in the process. So if you have something that you think would be beneficial to the language teaching and learning community now, we encourage you to submit it as soon as possible to the FLTMAG Editor (fltmag@iallt.org). The final deadline for drafts of articles for the July issue will be June 1, 2020.
If you are interested in submitting, please see our submission guidelines. Note that the FLTMAG focuses on practice, has a less formal structure than most research papers, allows the inclusion of images and relevant video clips, and encourages a conversational style.
Some topics that might be germane for this issue include:
technology highlights of tools that are especially useful in the transition to online language teaching
descriptions of practices in online or remote language teaching that have been particularly successful in the current situation
reflections on the differences between online language teaching and emergency remote language teaching
reports about surveys of instructors or students about the transition to remote language teaching
recommendations for how to prepare for emergency situations in the future
effective online course design for teaching languages
If you have questions, please contact the FLTMAG Editor, Shannon Donnally Spasova, at fltmag@iallt.org.
