The Department of Global Cultures and Languages at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is excited to announce a 100% position in language learning technology, outreach, and facilities oversight beginning fall semester 2019. This is a nine-month, renewable position. As Director of the Language Resource Center (LRC), the candidate will:
  1. hire and supervise student workers and volunteer tutors for conversation partners program,
  2. research and purchase materials/equipment for the LRC and GCL department,
  3. perform routine maintenance and upkeep of the LRC,
  4. manage the technology inventory for the LRC in conjunction with the university's Instructional Technology Services,
  5. collaborate with the department's RROC (Recruitment, Retention and Outreach Committee) on outreach and recruitment for the department, including website oversight and other promotional materials regarding the value of language learning,
  6. explore and evaluate new technologies for use in the teaching and learning of languages, and
  7. provide technology mentoring, training, instruction and support for GCL faculty and students using the LRC.
The Director of the LRC reports directly to the Chair of Global Cultures and Languages.

Candidates must have a Master's Degree by start date, native or near-native proficiency in English, advanced proficiency in another language besides English, and experience teaching or knowledge of language pedagogy; coursework or a degree in educational technology preferred.
